Ég tala ekki íslensku , en ég skil að þú ekki fara til Íslands fyrir veðrið

So some of you may know I had been learning Icelandic since October, but had to stop when a work project took me on a few too many US visits to keep up the evening class. A phrasebook would come in handy, as I’ve forgotten most of what I learned earlier this year. This is a bit of a shame but not the end of the world, there is still plenty of time for me to continue my quest to learn all of the European languages beginning with ‘I’.

Translation of the above:
Excuse me, do you speak English.
I don’t speak Icelandic, but I do know you don’t come to Iceland for the weather.
